Queensland: End the senseless killing

The Queensland Government’s Shark Control Program has been killing marine wildlife with nets and drumlines since 1962 in a misguided effort to protect people from the risk of shark bite. Their deaths matter.

And now, we're keeping count.

Effective, non-lethal solutions are available that improve safety for both ocean users and wildlife. It’s time to heed the science, get with the times, and move to a non-lethal program that can better protect people, wildlife, and ocean ecosystems.

The letter below will be sent to Hon Mark Furner: Minister for Agricultural Industry Development and Fisheries and Minister for Rural Communities and to Hon Meaghan Scanlon: Minister for the Environment and the Great Barrier Reef and Minister for Science and Youth Affairs.
